It’s not every day that you get to tour a historic mill, right in New York. You can find New Hope Mills Auburn NY along New Yorks Sweet Treat trail as well. While visiting this place, you will see that there is a mill building, a storage barn, sawmill, two concrete dams, and a couple of dwellings, each building is very rich in history!
Visiting New Hope Mills Auburn NY
The year was 1823 when this mill came to life. Judge Charles Kellogg built this mill and in 1947 the mill was sold to the Weed Family. Ever since then, the mill has been in this family’s operation. New Hope Mills has been around for over 190 years. Isn’t that incredible!
New Hope Mills stopped grinding their flour here in 1996, they still produce all their own flour, right in Auburn, New York!
It was so cool to walk around and see the mills! Seeing a piece of history was awesome. Plus, I got to see the process of how they process their products and that’s not something you get to see every day. From what I gather, there aren’t a lot of mills in the USA left. You can actually see all of the historic mills in the USA right here.
New Hope Mills Cafe
It’s only natural that New Hope Mills would have a yummy cafe for everyone to enjoy. Their cafe is truly a testament to their products. I mean, their whole business has been around for nearly 200 years, so you know they’re doing something right. At the cafe, they serve everything from french toast to shakes! I can tell you that just walking into this cafe, it smells delicious and it’s a part of the mill that you’ll want to visit! Oh, and let’s not ignore the fact that breakfast and lunch are served all day.
All the decor items are items that were used at the mill or in the offices at one point or another and they can tell you the history behind many of the items.
The food is just amazing. Above are the candied maple bacon and waffle. One waffle is more then enough it is so thick and the potatoes had a unique and amazing seasoning on them.

Below are the pancakes. That is ONE pancake. It was bigger than my head. I struggled to finish half of it! I paired it with their amazing syrup and I could stop myself. I was full all day!
Naturally, New Hope Mills is going to have some amazing products for their visitors to enjoy. They sell items like:
- Pancake mix
- Buttermilk pancake mix
- Low carb pancake mix and waffle mix
- Pumpkin spice pancake mix
- Old fashioned buckwheat pancake mix
- Low carb cranberry orange muffin mix
Don’t be fooled because they have a ton more products not listed. I love that they have low carb options as I know a lot of my friends that are following a low carb or Keto diet and would appreciate having these options.
They also have some super cute kitchen decor items as well!
