Mackworth Island – Watch the wildlife and walk the trails at Mackworth Island during the summer. With so much natural beauty this place is an old fashioned play house.
The Children’s Museum of Maine – Whether it is rainy and cold or hot and sunny, the Children’s Museum of Maine Maine is one of the best places to take kids. Visit the first Friday of each month to score a $2 entry fee deal. Any other day it’s only $10 per person. Remember if you are a member of the reciprocal memberships I suggest you get in here free!

Fort Williams Park – Spend a summer afternoon at Fort Williams Park exploring, swimming, and playing at the playground. With so much to do here, your children will love it! This is also the home to the famous Portland Head Light. Admission is free to see the light house the museum is pay to enter. Portland Museum of Art – Visit the Portland Museum of Art on Fridays from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. for free admission. Portland Museum of Art is dedicated to making the arts fun for kids.
Payson Park – For a fun-filled winter, visit Payson Park on January 23rd from 12:30-2:30 p.m. where sledding, ice skating, and hot cocoa by the fire will be waiting for you. This free event you don’t want to miss.
Maine Wildlife Park – For only $7.50 per adult and $5.50 per child, you can see all of Maine’s wildlife at the Maine Wildlife Park. This is a great way to learn and explore when summer boredom takes root.
Old Orchard Beach – Nothing quite beats going to the beach during the summer. However, Old Orchard Beach isn’t just a sandy, swimming haven, but complete with restaurants, shops, amusement parks, and arcades for a full day of family fun.

Old Orchard Beach– Eagle Island is a national historic site. From June 15th through Labor Day, you can visit this infamous State Park for $4 per resident and $6 per non-resident adult. Children 5-11 are free!
Palace Playland – Give your kids the fun of rides. The fun comes in all sizes and at Palace Playland all kids can enjoy their time. For $32.50 per adult and $24.50 per kid, you and your kids can enjoy unlimited rides and fun.
York’s Wild Kingdom – Exotic animals, a haunted house, and rides are all part of the package. For $22.25 per adult and $17.25 per kid 4-12, you can enjoy it all at the York’s Wild Kingdom.
Maine’s Maritime Museum – If your kids love ships and boats, Maine’s Maritime Museum is worth the trip. Enjoy a cruise and a trip down memory lane for $15.50 per adult and $10 per kid 6-12. Open 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day.

Fun Town – Funtown Splashtown is one of the largest amusement parks in the USA. This day of summer fun can be enjoyed for $37 per tall person and $28 per shorter person.
Len Libby Shop – Oh man, you’re in for a real treat with Len Libby Shops. You have got to see the chocolate moose while there, it’s amazing. This candy chocolate moose is an edible version of the 1,700-pound life-sized moose you’ll find outside of their store. Our kids were amazed and my husband too.
