Planning a Trip to Key West on a Budget

If you can I highly suggest driving to Key West. Mostly because driving the Keys is something everyone should do at least once in their life. The views are amazing!

Places to Stay in Key West on a Budget

Key West is particularly a touristy area, so finding a place to stay can be tricky. First of all, you better believe that people in Key West rent out their homes on Airbnb. You can get a nice place on the beach to help you relax during your stay. You can rent condos, houses, or RVs. Many have truly Key West theme, some are right on the water and I even saw a sailboat available to stay in! 

You could even go camping in Key West. If you have your own RV or just want to tent camp. It can get hot in Key West at certain times of the year, so make sure you’re ready to withstand some heat. Camping at the Dry Tortugas is an experience you may want to take while you’re in Key West.  

There are Key West that you can check out. All-inclusive resorts are a big selling point for people who like to travel to a tropical area. Just make sure you’re prepared to pay the price because this is not always budget friendly. Although, sometimes you can catch a good deal by going on a “travel website.”

Make Your Own Food

This is even easier to do if you stay in an Airbnb but the more meals you make yourself the more you will save. I suggest eating out a few times to take in the local food and culture and I won’t lie, some of the freshest seafood ever!

Take your own free walking tour with this free print out. Walking tours can be expensive, but with this one, you’re good to go.

Southernmost Point, Key West, Florida

Make sure to visit the iconic Southernmost Point and get your picture taken and take in the views that go with.

Make a visit to the Key West Wild Life Center. If you love animals, you’re going to want to give this place a visit, plus it’s free.  

Check out the Key West Seaport and take a scenic walk. Free is always good, especially when it’s beautiful.

Use Groupon

Once you have your dates set make sure to start stalking Groupon deals for things to do. Things to do vary by dates but you can always find something, fishing tours and wineries are big, plus you can get discounts on many places to eat!
