Best Zoos in the US – You Won’t Want to Miss These!
While traveling we love to visit the local zoos. They make for a great homeschool day and allow our kids to learn so much! I know zoo trips can get expensive though! So what is the best way to still take in the zoo experience but on a budget? With a reciprocal membership. Remember when I mentioned the memberships we use to save money?
Now on to the zoos that you want to bookmark!
San Diego Zoo – If you’re going to be in San Diego, you can’t skip out on going to this zoo. Heading to this zoo will not only keep you busy, you will love seeing the animals in action.
Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium in Omaha – This zoo is perfect for families who want to see and explore animals at the zoo. They have tons of exhibits and zoo animals to keep your family busy for hours.
Columbus Zoo in Ohio – Why not visit the zoo and the aquarium all at once? Heading to the Columbus Zoo will allow you to discover some amazing animals and experience sea life.
Riverbanks Zoo & Garden in Columbia, South Carolina – This may be a new zoo to some of you, but it’s equally awesome.
Smithsonian National Zoo – One of our favorites is the Smithsonian National Zoo! You will love knowing that admission to this zoo is free, which is great. They also work towards saving species, which I also love.
Saint Louis Zoo – At the Saint Louis Zoo, your family is going to love visiting all the animals. Exploring the zoo is a ton of fun as there are a ton of exhibits. It will be hard for your child to be bored here.
Bronx Zoo in NYC – Experience the Bronx Zoo during the day or at night, both experiences are incredible. There are a ton of woods and you feel as though you’re right in the middle of nature.
Zoo Miami – I love that Miami tries to be a little different and names it Zoo Miami. There are 280 acres here to explore and a never-ending amount of animals to see.
Fort Worth Zoo – If you’re going to be in the Fort Worth, Texas area, you need to check out their zoo. I have heard nothing but great things about this zoo and I look forward to being able to take our own kids.
Side Note: When visiting Texas make sure to also check out our Texas Resource page with 51 of the best things to do all over the state. tips on finding the best places to stay, and how to save money on the top attractions!
Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago– Another great free zoo to experience is the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago. They house over 1200 animals at this zoo.
