New England is a beauty to behold, and I want to share my New England vacation ideas perfect for families. With four very distinct seasons, it is truly a destination you can visit year around. Made up of six diverse States including Maine, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and Vermont, there is no shortage of fun things you can do with your family. Here are some of the best New England Vacations.
Best New England Vacations – New England Vacation Ideas Perfect for Families
Visit Acadia National Park
This untamed wilderness is full of jaw-dropping scenery and is the perfect destination for families. Located in Maine, there are family friendly restaurants, lodging, and fun things to do. However, you can, also venture out into nature for some good old fashioned family fun. You can read a little about our trip to Bar Harbor Maine and Acadia National Park in our July 2016 travel update.
Discover the City Life of Boston
As far as cities go, Boston is as kid-friendly as they get. Of course, you won’t want to leave Boston without visiting these family friendly attractions: The Museum of Science, The Museum of Fine Arts, The Harvard Museum of Natural History, The New England Aquarium, or the John F. Kennedy Presidential Museum and Library. With family at the center, Boston is full of family friendly fun, education, and charm. This is one of my favorite New England vacations.
I highly recommend getting a Boston CityPASS for your visit. This pass will save you 44% off regular ticket admission off of the following attractions New England Aquarium, Museum of Science, Skywalk Observatory, and Museum of Fine Arts, Boston OR Boston Harbor Cruises.
Make sure to check out the Groupon Boston deals for more deal on local attractions, restaurants, and tours.
Enjoy the Winter in Stowe, VT
With trails that stream down the 4,393-foot Mount Mansfield, Stowe has one of the best places in New England to ski. With so many mountains and slopes, this is a winter wonderland. Though visiting Stowe in the winter is a fun experience, you can stroll along the trails and enjoy nature at any season of the year. With family friendly shops, restaurants, and lodging, this is a destination you will want to visit.
Also, make sure to check out how we did a Vermont vacation for 1 week, visited 11 attractions with 6 people and only spent $250 including lodging!
Enjoy the Beaches of Central Connecticut
If you love sandy beaches, sunny days, and the water in your face, you are going to love a visit to Connecticut. The best places to enjoy the outdoors is along the coastline with miles and miles of beaches that overlook the Atlantic Ocean and Long Island. With rich history, beautiful beaches, and family-friendly lodging, you’re in for a real treat in Central Connecticut.
I also highly recommend visiting the Yale Peabody Museum (seen above), If will be visiting Hartford I suggest visiting the Mark Twain House! You can see out adventures at both in our June 2016 travel update. Connecticut is never short of great New England Vacation Ideas.
Have Fun at Lake Winnipesaukee
Lake Winnipesaukee is prime land for a New England family vacation. You get the best of all worlds when you visit Lake Winnipesaukee. With beaches, amusement parks, restaurants, shopping, 70-miles of waves offering a variety of water sports, and beautiful shoreline scenery, you won’t want to go home. As a family, there is something for everyone at Lake Winnipesaukee.
