The Smokies have always been a great place for families to spend time together. The question is, which activities are the best?! Of course, most things that happen in Pigeon Forge are awesome! Here are some of our favorites.

Go-Karts

Taking a spin on the go-karts is always something we do down in Pigeon Forge. It’s a fun activity for the whole family. If you’re heading to Pigeon Forge, go ahead and check out the go-kart options. What a fun place to relax!

Titanic Museum in Pigeon Forge Tennessee

Interactive Museums

We love all the interactive museums in Pigeon Forge. Our favorite is the Titanic museum. The kids always want to go when we visit so we have been multiple times. We also enjoyed the Alcatraz East Crime Museum the last time we were there. There are several more in town we can’t wait to explore!

Mountain Roller Coasters

If you like go-karts you will love the mountain roller coasters all over Pigeon Forge. They use gravity to fly down a mountain and they even light them up at night for a great nighttime ride.

The Island at Pigeon Forge Tennessee - Things to do with kids

The Island at Pigeon Forge

My kids love watching the water show in the center of the Island. It has colors and coordinates to music. Many of the shops there will offer free samples but they have interactive rides. The big Mountain Wheel is there to ride too.

Go Shopping

This might not seem like something that the kids would like but trust me they will! Many shops had something that draws you in. Some offer free samples and some allow you to watch them make the products. Then there are the ones that have live alligators and live sharks in them! Yep, it’s pretty cool for the kids to watch as you get some fun shopping done!

Smoky Mountain National Park Elk

Smoky Mountain National Park

We love spending a day in the Smoky Mountain National Park. We take in the visitor centers and the museums that each one has. We love doing scenic drives and looking for animals. We were lucky enough to spot 2 heard of Elk on our last visit.

We also love driving Cades Cove. We try to give ourselves a day for this so we can take in each stop and really explore it. This is one of our favorite places to drive in the fall.

Fun Things to Eat in Pigeon Forge with Kids

When heading to the Smokies, you have to be prepared to eat something delicious. Pigeon Forge has the best options for food. While they have all kinds of food they do southern food best. Here are our favorite food stops.

The Pigeon Forge Mill,

The Old Mill

One of our favorite places to get some food in Pigeon Forge is at The Old Mill Restaurant. This establishment has been here since 1830 and is still a favorite place to go for many people in the area. It’s right on the water and they love kids so of course, my kids love being there.

Huck Finns Catfish Pigeon Forge Tennessee

Huck Finn’s Catfish

If you aren’t looking for this place you will miss it on the main drag. It’s a place even the locals love, that’s how you know it’s good. They greet you will a tray of hush puppies, coleslaw, beans, and pickles before you even order!

They have all your southern favorites but are known for their catfish. On our last visit, my oldest daughter and I couldn’t decide on what to order, so I got the split plate of catfish and fried chicken and she got gator tale and we shared.

 Dinner Shows

The great Pigeon Forge area is well known for its theatre options. One of our favorites is Paula Deen’s Lumberjack Feud. We have also been to Dolly Parton’s Stampede. No matter which shows you choose to go to in Pigeon Forge, you’ll have a blast. These shows are what make it a total family vacation.

Families, Pigeon Forge is the perfect destination for you! There is plenty to do, eat, and see! I’d love to hear your experience in this beautiful Mountain Town if you have ever been.
