If you are like me, you like to do things on the cheap. And, by cheap I really mean free. Life is full of experiences to be had, and I want to make as many memories as I can with my kids before they all grow up. However, money doesn’t grow on trees. Well, I can’t grow it anyway… So instead of spending my retirement on making experiences, I have found these free things to do in Sedona Arizona!

Take pictures at Red Rock Country. Pack a picnic basket full of PB&Js and head out to Red Rock Country. Although you can’t get a tour for free, you can spend quality time with those you love and take some miraculous pictures.

While you are at Red Rock, Drive the Scenic Byway. I like to check out books about our destinations from the library, so we can read about what we see. Take pictures, look for things you found in a book, or just enjoy the scenery. Either way, it’s free!

Take time to reflect on Amitabha and Peace Park. Sometimes, the most spiritual thing we can do is look out on the world and take in its beauty. Take time to take in the beauty of our world for free. You will be glad you did!

One of the best experiences comes from The Vortexes. With cyclones of energy coming directly from the uniquely shaped rock formations, you can feel the presence of energy emitted. It also makes for a great science lesson.

Take a stroll through Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village. This shopping center was designed in the style of a traditional Mexican village. You won’t want to miss out on the historical and cultural views.

Go hiking. Have you seen Arizona? There are plenty of hiking trails and places to hike. Not only will it wear the kids out, but it is a great way to stay active, healthy, and ready for anything life throws your way.

Make some music at Free Notes Harmony Park. There are tons of outdoor musical instruments for people of all ages and abilities. Music is a great way to tap into your creative side, rejuvenate your soul, and make you feel all around happier.

Visit the Chapel of the Holy Cross. This stunning church protrudes from the red cliffs and is truly a magnificent sight to behold. Not only does it have spectacular views, but it is a true place of peace and tranquility.

Sliding Jail – Just outside Sedona is the sliding Jail in Jerome. (there is also a ghost town state park and old mining town here for admission if you are interested). During the coal mining explosions in the 1930s, one of them knocked this jail loose and it slid down the hill to where it is now just off the main street.
