We had visited Christmas in December of 2022 with our 2 dogs and there was a wonderful Holiday Fair. We enjoyed it so much we thought it would be a nice Sunday drive (2+ hours each way) for Mothers Day. When we arrived we saw no less than 6 large NO PET signs. No one was available to ask why this had become such and only a handful of people enjoying the vast grounds this village is on. Very disappointed and we will not be returning anytime soon.

I no longer recall how I found out about this place, but I just had to visit for the name alone. It's definitely an out of the way drive for me, but loved it so much I come back each year. Love the nature and history. A lot of stalls to browse and buy. Not much dessert options for someone that can't have chocolate; mainly brownies, fudge and cookies.

Looking for a day trip, I found this 40 minutes form our vacation home. Very interesting local history with restored houses belonging to families from the early 1800's through early 1900's. Kids will enjoy seeing what life was like in the old days, explore a replica of an old fort, and see what an actual school house looked like from the early 20th century. There is a large playground for climbing and swinging. Bring a picnic lunch as there are picnic tables and pavilions all around. And the park is totally free. Enjoy.

I found this place in the book, Florida Day Trips. It is nice to see old Florida is still alive. I love the Florida history of this park. You can go inside several historic homes, walk through Fort Christmas, and kids can play at the large playground. The visitor's center was not open but if you go to the end of the park and there is a little house with a map of the property. Enjoy!

This park is amazing-and free! The fort is very well maintained. Very informative and my two grandsons (5 and 8) loved it. The grounds are nice and shady (and clean). So much to see (we got rained out after the fort)...we'll be back!

Seven restored pioneer homes, all originally from the local area and moved and reconstructed on this five acre site. You could easily spend a half day here and you probably need more. The homes have a poster outside depicting the history of the property along with notes of the family who originally owned and built them. Inside are many artefacts of the day with further interesting information. It's a fascinating glimpse into the past and it was well worth us taking the trip from Orlando to visit. Will return to catch up on the things we undoubtedly missed first time. It's all free and there are restrooms on site. Beware, it is CLOSED ON MONDAYS.

Just know that the settlers of Christmas Florida were hard working, God fearing people, they lived off the land.Stories told of working the orange groves, gathering pine needles on wagons and driving them into Orlando to lay in the streets because there were no actual hard roads. People hunted and fished and drank water from hand dug wells. These were people with back bone and pride. My mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother were all born and raised there. My family history is in that museum. I go there and think back about how strong they were and the hardships they endured and I feel very proud of my heritage. This place holds loving memories.

Went here on a whim with my two girls, ages 4 and 9. First of all, it's FREE and they really could charge admission for the quality of presentation. Many houses completely decorated as the time when they were built from 1870 to 1950 to get a glimpse of old cow and cracker Florida. Had a great couple of hours to roam the houses and reconstruction 1830 fort. Fantastic.

Very nice park like setting with plenty of picknic areas shaded by grand old oak trees. There is an are a few acres in size that has an impressive collection of old homes of various age and style. Ea. One decorated with period furnishings. You can really feel like you stepped back in time as you walk into these homes. If you like history or want to learn about old florida, do yourself a favor and go. Oh ya.....its FREE...... but if you can appreciate the work it takes to keep this place available to the public you could (should) leave at least a small donation in the donation box, JMHO.

As a photographer in an electric wheelchair, I, and my wife (who is person who simply walks), was refused entry due to classifying the wheelchair as a "motor vehicle". That was most amazing, and most disappointing.
